Julie Nymann

Photographer

Julie Nymann’s art practice deals with the interplay of video, sound and still images. Her main current project is a series of videos and installations inspired by the myth of Narcissus. [more show="Show More Info…" hide="Hide More Info…"] Julie was born in 1987 and grew up in Nærum, Denmark. After graduating in photography from Copenhagen Technical School, in 2007 she moved to Dubai and started her career as a professional freelance photographer, until 2009. From 2009 to 2011 Julie resided and worked in Denmark, where she continued developing a voice of her own, and completed the transition towards fine art. In 2010, Julie Nymann attended a Certificate Program in Fine Art at The Danish School of Art Photography. She received an award at Fatamorgana Photo Festival, 2011. Currently, Julie Nymann lives in New York City. In 2012 she completed a one-year full time program at International Center of Photography, and participated to the Building a Still and Video Archive course at The Camera Club, New York. In 2012, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark honored Julie Nymann with an Artisan Scholarship award, at the Medal Ceremony. Julie Nymann’s works have been exhibited in the U.S.A., Denmark, the Netherlands and Spain. Among the other awards, most recently Julie Nymann received the First Prize at Bideodromo, International Experimental Film and Video Festival 2012, Bilbao. Her works have been acquired by SKY TV’s ART channel, Italy, and have been published in international publications such as Scrapped, Der Greif and Of The Afternoon. [/more]
