Karsten Kronas, Jewgeni Roppel – Fuck we are happy
Oct 29, 2013 - Andrea Grützner
Today I'm happy to announce a small online exhibition by the photographers Karsten Kronas and Jewgeni Roppel. Unfortunately I've missed the real one with the title "fuck we are happy" in Bielefeld this spring, so I kindly asked them to create an exhibition online. We invite you to visit fuck we are happy. Karsten and Jewgeni took the pictures of "fuck we are happy" in Tel Aviv between 2010 and 2012. Without knowing each other, they felt inspired by the same venues. Before they moved together as flatmates, they didn't realized the relations between their experiences in Israel and between their pictures. They decided to do an exhibition together, focusing on a young generation, who has to deal with the complicated present full of conflicts, drifting away in some amusement. I follow the work of Karsten and Jewgeni quite a while, being impressed by their subjective documentary style and their broad topics. Karsten Kronas was born in 1978 in Wiesbaden. He studied Photography and Media in Bielefeld and at the Marmara University in Istanbul. Jewgeni Roppel was born in 1983 in Shymkent / Kasachstan. After studying visual communication at the HAWK University of Applied Science and Arts in Hildesheim, Germany and at the University of Wisconsin in United States he currently is in the Master Programm of Photography and Media at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld. Both of them travel a lot for their projects and exhibit internationally. Last but not least take a look at their websites and visit one of their 'real' exhibitions if you have a chance. www.karstenkronas.com www.jewro.de
