It is really complicated to respond to this question today, especially because of all those new (and already existing) aspects of the image. That's why, for this post, I chose to focus on an artist who discusses this issue. This question is just a starting point for Constance Nouvel's approach. The Paris based artist works like an analyst, in order to understand the images in all their dimensions. Her very interesting work oscillates between photography and sculpture. Here's an excellent extract of a text written by Noémie Monier to introduce you to the work of Constance Nouvel. "Constance Nouvel’s photographic objects are mysterious entities. Immobile, mute and steeped in absence, they seem to hold the precious secret of a reality preserved. Their apparent stasis is however deceptive and the titles of some of the works are suggestive of slight movement (Diffraction, Translation, Dépliement [Unfolding]), providing clues where the artist has herself thrown us off the scent. A far cry from current digital processing techniques, she uses traditional prints as materials in themselves. They become the building blocks of her works, receptacles of movement by means of which they are then transformed according to logical method" The website of the artist is really well documented. I invite you to discover the several forms and reflexions developed by her work. See you soon. www.constancenouvel.www
