Artist Feature

Every week an artist is featured whose single image was published by Der Greif. The Feature shows the image in the original context of the series.

Czar Kristoff - Untitled

Sep 23, 2015

This collection of images are not a series but just photographs I made recently and last year, put together to represent my current curiosities and obsessions.

Artist Blog

The blog of Der Greif is written entirely by the artists who have been invited to doing an Artist-Feature. Every week, we have a different author.

V – Wave

Sep 29, 2015 - Czar Kristoff

imeo video_id="114551275" width="1000" height="563“] Today is my last day on the Guest-Blog series, and I was thinking maybe it would be nice to share a video. So, here's a clip I shot nine months ago prior a typhoon's arrival. It is titled Wave. The video was part of a group exhibition happened earlier this year in Vargas Museum at the University of the Philippines. Thanks for having me Der Greif! Cheers!

IV – Hardworking Goodlooking

Sep 27, 2015 - Czar Kristoff

Few months ago, I met the brilliant people behind the Office of Culture and Design. OCD is a platform for artist, writers, designers and social practice projects that want to use culture as a way to address developing world issues. To realize their projects and programs, they created a publishing house called Hardworking Goodlooking. Above are spreads from one of their publications, In Darkness and Filipino Folk Foundry, both released in the New York Art Book Fair. If you want to learn more, check their website here.

III – Burst

Sep 26, 2015 - Czar Kristoff

Hi, these are the works of my favorite Filipino photographers. Hope you can check out their works. :-) Charles Buenconsejo, Dago Santos, Cru Camara, Dennese Victoria, MM Yu, Shireen Seno, Jed Escueta, Frank Callaghan, Geric Cruz, Tim Serrano, Wawi Nazarroza

II – Before Us, Nothing Existed Here

Sep 25, 2015 - Czar Kristoff

Today, I'm bringing you one of my favorite artists here in Manila. His name is Allan Balisi. His oil-based paintings are often in monotone. I like his works because of its ability to magnify a certain feeling or thought without exaggerating.

I – Fugue

Sep 24, 2015 - Czar Kristoff

Hi everyone! This is Czar Kristoff from Laguna, Philippines. It is my great pleasure to take part on Der Greif Guest-Blog series. To start this week-long activity, here's a series of images from my self-published zine titled Fugue. It is an index of short trips made to avoid selected realities. Images in the zine are made in late 2013 to early 2015. Fugue was released few months ago here in Manila through Thousandfold small press/library and was recently consigned with Printed Matter via The Office of Culture and Design.
