Profile

Rebecca Topakian

Photographer

After two bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Geography at the Sorbonne,Rebecca Topakian continued her research at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles (ENSP), graduating in 2015. Her work aims to point, through different forms, the possibility of representation of personal identity in its relation to group, community or collective history. In her latest works (Dame Gulizar and other stories, in progress ; Awaiting Oblivion, currently showed at la Villa Arson, Nice, France), she questioned the landscape as a fictional and narrative projection and pushes further her interest for the details in the bodies (gestures, postures, faces). Her previous work, Infra, is in the making of a book that will be published by Classe Moyenne Editions (www.cmeditions.fr) in November. She is the co-founder of an artists residency, writers and reseachers called el-Atlal, based in Jericho.
