Memories don’t only circulate within groups of people; they also embed themselves physically in the environment. Residues of events, those poignant and those less poignant, can be found engraved in structures and materials or as ritualistic objects scattered or grouped at points in a landscape. As people intervene in their surroundings, their surroundings influence them back.

Methodological principles that directed my considerations of bodies also informed my approach to my environment. The focus is not so much on the actual meaning of relics and remnants but rather on the ways they function and the ways humans store information in nature by interacting with it.
