“The Ghost” is the most representative of the series “A Strange Attraction”. It was the first picture I took and it set the path for the series. I was in Paris with a friend, we were walking around and I came across this. It immediately intrigued me, the shape reminded me of a ghost, and it’s something that runs through our collective imagination. Later I learned that this sheet was actually used to protect the statues during the winter, so as not to damage the stone. 

This first photograph was made by accident at the time, I didn’t have the guiding line of the series in mind yet. But it triggered the desire to do this project. I wondered about what I saw in the street or in other people’s homes and what image it gave me. About what the images evoke in the mind, in our imagination, versus what they really say, by putting them in their context.
