In 2019, I began to create images in a more intentional way. I reached out to folks that I knew had a connection to Our Lady of Guadalupe and made portraits with them to continue exploring this theme. 

One of those people is my friend and collaborator, Ashleigh. I knew she had a collection of Guadalupe art and memorabilia so I asked if I could photograph her in her space. I love the layers of art surrounding her, from the tattoo on her shoulder to the paintings on her wall. Her body and home are an altar to the divine. They’re a beautiful reminder that what is sacred does not only live behind the walls of a church.
