Every week an artist whose single image was published by Der Greif is given a platform in which to blog about contemporary photography.

Nathan Beard, born 1986, is an inter-disciplinary artist based in Perth, Western Australia. He uses a diverse range of media to explore his Thai-Australian heritage, ideas of loss, nostalgia and memory. Earlier this year he undertook a residency at Speedy Grandma in Bangkok, Thailand. During this residency the Nathan visited his home town of Nakhon Nayok, using his mothers abandoned house there and the surrounding local area as a site for the production of a new series of works. Eden is a series of photographs that were produced just before his travels to Thailand. They are a focal point of Nathan's mother and her garden in Australia.
