“Prayer Hands” is my reinterpretation of renaissance painter Albrecht Dürer’s classic drawing by the same name. I grew up seeing this image on prayer cards and paintings, and tattooed on friends. I always wondered why I never saw a woman’s hands depicted in this way, so I decided to create my own modern version incorporating Our Lady of Guadalupe’s traditional colors and symbols.
