I feel very privileged taking part in the blog of their fantastic magazine, which I consider to be one of the most interesting around. It is my first blog and I'd like to fill it with a range of my work - be it personal or commissioned work. I am taking pictures since I was 14 and make a living of it for already quiet some time after having graduated with an MA at LCPDT, which is now known as London College of Communication. People often ask me what I take pictures of and I tend to answer everything between Dieter Bohlen (cheesy TV-star in Germany) and the slums of Calcutta. Generally speaking my work has to do with people from all walks of life be it a portrait of an actor, an executive or a documentary story of victims of the Bophal-tragedy. Having said that there are exceptions to the rule, mainly in personal projects, which lead often to plain pictures without any people in it, However, the work often follows traces of a person like for instance the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, the American painter Edward Hopper or even Jesus. In a way stalker stories if you like. I think this should be enough waffeling, here comes the first picture. This is the portrait of the Hollywood actor William Hurt. He appeared in many films, good ones and not so good ones and won an Oscar for best actor in "Kiss of the Spider Woman". It was a typical editorial job in a hotel where they give you 5 minutes and treat you like a beggar. The reason I have chosen this image is because I think here we can see a vulnerable side of Mr. Hurt - a rare sight for an actor who is briefed to come across only positive in order to promote their next movie. It is this kind of portraiture I like the most.
