In the darkness.
Twilight.
The tourists are like tidal waters.
The darkness encompasses an enormous void.
The darkness has so much space that it never fills up *

Low Season

One gets confronted with an overload of images showing beaches, ice cream and happy blonde families, when looking at pictures of the Danish island of Bornholm, where I have lived for the past seven years. This encouraged me to make a visual investigation of life on the island outside the high season in our specific time.
 
Everything calms down, plants go dormant, people are inside, the wind is harsh and the days are dark. Once you get used to it, you begin to appreciate the slowness of this season.
 
Even though it was not my intention to make a project about the pandemic situation, the winters of 2020 and 2021, when I photographed this project, were characterized by isolation and lockdown.
It could feel safe to be inside, but it could also feel like a bunker. However, the narrative is kept very open and invites the viewer to use the works as a projection surface for their own memories and imagination.
