This series of photographs is part of a larger body of work investigating the role of photography in the rapid proliferation of surveillance capitalism. An amalgamated photographic network of visual data collection has become the primary apparatus of corporate surveillance within modern capitalism, a mutation of neoliberal capitalism wherein the majority of interactions between corporations and individuals are mediated by the collection and exploitation of data. At the core of this system is a multitude of photographic devices, along with data analysis algorithms that make possible the viewing and analysis of monumental amounts of visual data. As surveillance capitalism has rapidly become the dominating form of digital life, photography has enabled its proliferation and reinforced its success. Through this work, I am to reveal the concealed mechanics of this system, as well as encourage social and technological interactions that are not mediated by its structure.
