Ola Surdacka - Landscapes

allery] The inspiration for the cycle »Landscapes« were the areas located away from civilization, the areas playing an important role in the lives of people who I know. The places where they used to come back and will continue to come back, suspended somewhere in a precisely embedded space, having a particular personal meaning. That's how these specific portraits of places and individuals - dimensions mutually  dissolving, coexisting for centuries - have been created. Through combining different parts of the human body, together making a whole, an image of a universal human being is created, a creation functioning within the boundaries of the surrounding World. The element of fragmentation adds to the sense of the human body going beyond the conventional notion of humanity - starting to function as one of the many inseperable elements within the mozaic of nature.
