Thomas Hauser - The Wake of Dust

The Wake of Dust is a study of memory and the way it is preserved, archived, and reconstructed. When my grandmother passed away in 2010, I gained access to my family archives of photographs, letters, and objects, which I had never seen before. In piecing together the fleeting elements of a personal history, the old photographs and my own images became the source of this new intermingled project. The Wake of Dust is also a book printed in the Netherlands in an edition of 200 copies on a Risograph A2 machine with the cover and dust-jacket printed in offset and silkscreen, respectively.

Eden, The Stable and the Collapsed

Here's a serie I did in 2015 during a residency in Eden, NC (USA). Invited by Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques during his project Eden, I worked for a month in the Little Red Schoolhouse experimenting with analog photo paper and some laser printers I bought there. The prints are not developed and not fixed. They are fading very slowly to the black as the chemical contained in the paper is reacting. Here's a part of this serie. Eden, The Stable and the Collapsed will be exhibited during the exhibition Eden by Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques at Aperture Gallery, NYC in November 2016.
