Profile

Gábor Arion Kudász

Photographer

Arion was born in Budapest, 1978. He is a photographer, teacher of photography, and a father of three. His works are usually long-term projects incorporating staged elements with documentary photography. Arion believes manipulation can serve a deeper understanding of truth in the image. Following a decade exploring urban architecture and development, environmental issues and the human presence, - triggered by a personal tragedy - he radicalized his approach towards the image as document, his attention focused on human relations, private history and the workings of memory. Arion finished his studies in Photography at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, where he is currently lecturer in the Master program since 2013. He won several international awards and scholarships. He received the Balogh Rudolf award of the Hungarian Republic in 2013. His recent work 'Human' was selected as the winner of Robert Capa Grand Prize, and finalist of Leopold Bloom Art Award and Le Bal Award in 2015. Arion exhibits internationally and regularly publishes limited edition artist books.
