Itamar Freed

Photographer

Born in 1987 in New York City, Itamar Freed works and lives in London/Israel. He has an MA in Photography, at the Royal College of Art, London . Freed received his BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, 2012. He was the 2016 recipient of the prestigious Clore Foundation Scholarship for a Masters Degree at the RCA, a fully-funded grant valued at over 70,000 GBP. Freed has received global acclaim including the first place prize for the EPSON Award for Excellence in Photography, 2012. He exhibited at Christie's Auction House & Grosvenor House, London, alongside Jeff Koons, William Kentridge, Tracey Emin and Yayoi Kusama. Recently, Freed showcased solo exhibitions at Pulse Miami, Volta New York, Ramat-Gan Museum of Israeli Art. Freed has been selected to exhibit in the upcoming major exhibition at the Museum of London, 2018, and Nordart 2018, Germany. His work resides in private and public collections worldwide: the JP Morgan Chase Art Collection, Clore Duffield Art Collection, Estee Lauder Art Collection, Lauren and Mitchell Presser Photography Collection and the American Embassies collection. Freed recently completed an artist residency at the prestigious Bilpin International Ground for Creative Initiatives, Australia. Freed has participated in multiple group exhibitions worldwide. For Freed, Photography forms an axis between painting and reality - comprising imagined narratives controlled by the artist and the actual objects documented.
