Markus Guschelbauer

Markus Guschelbauer is an Austrian based artist, he currently lives and works in Vienna. He received an M.F.A in Photography from the University for Applied Arts in Vienna and he has been working as an independent artist since 2009. He has presented work in Austria, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Slovenia, Romania, the Netherlands and in the U.S.A. Landscape as an archaic subject is the main interest of his work. He is trying to find new means of expression within the depiction of landscape in arts. His tools to do so are photography, video or site-specific installations. Within the process of creation he reflects on the visibility and the presence of man in the natural space. This is showcased through the performance and the outcome of acting and creating in nature, which creates an illusion oscillating between reality and fiction.
