Maximilian Koppernock
Photographer
Maximilian Koppernock (born 1995, Germany) is a visual artist working with the medium of photography. In 2020, he completed his BA in photography and time-based media with Linn Schröder at the HAW Hamburg, now to be followed by his diploma in photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig in the class of Heidi Specker. In addition, he completed semesters in Fine Arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs Paris and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam. His associative compositions are subversive and dissolve photographic genre boundaries. By atmospherically contextualizing the images through the use of color, sharpness, light and formats, he creates visual dialogues with the viewer. He literally plays with access to content with his multi-layered imagery, leaving one with various ways of interpreting them. Through curiosity about cultural changes and social needs combined with his individual personal observations in thematic dissections, reflections and connections occur in the composition of images. The critical examination of the psychological effect of visual subjects evokes immediate responses and tickles one's own memories and perceptions. In this way, an inevitable identification and constant alignment of oneself with his artistic play with enigmatic images emerges.
