Andreas Laszlo Konrath
Photographer
I was born in 1981 at High Wycombe Hospital and grew up in a small town named Chorleywood, just North West of London. I picked up my first camera after my brother gifted me a copy of Tulsa by Larry Clark for my 18th birthday. I went on to study my Degree in Fine Art at London Guildhall University, located in Whitechapel. I learnt a lot during this time under the watchful eye of my tutor Patrick Brill (Bob and Roberta Smith). In 2004 I had the opportunity to move to New York initially interning at photo agencies and assisting photographers, while operating my own darkroom on Canal Street for several years, making photos on the weekends and printing late at night. By late 2007 I had picked up some editorial assignments, the first of which was from Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine and in early 2008 I was nominated as one of PDN’s 30 under 30. Over the next few years, some other nominations followed including SPD and D&AD awards, some more editorial and commercial assignments, while maintaining my own art practice and exhibiting in New York, London, Copenhagen and Sardinia. At the end of 2008, I had also started a partnership with my good friend Brian Paul Lamotte, a designer, producing limited edition zines and artist books under the independent imprint we founded together named PWP. I currently live and work in Brooklyn, New York.
