Anna Thiele

Photographer

anna thiele is a Berlin-based photographer. As a master student, she studied with Professor Arno Fischer at the renowned Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie. Since 2008, her work has been regularly shown in solo and group exhibitions and she has been rewarded in international competitions. Her photographs are part of the collection of the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt am Main as well as in private collections. Urban transformation is one focus in her photography. With her camera she traces the interrelations between spaces and people, preferably in public places where urban and social visions find their expression. In 2020, her first book 'tempelhof. metamorphosis' was published by DISTANZ and awarded the German Photobook Prize in silver. In recent years, anna thiele has increasingly turned to freer, associative projects in which she transforms very diverse fragments from the everyday context into her own poetic spaces and narratives. In doing so, she deals primarily with existential themes such as the fragility and beauty of life or the isolation. A sense of concentration and quietness as well as her graphic style underpin all her artworks. For more information: www.annathiele.de or Instagram @annathiele_photography
