Profile

Carrie Thompson

Photographer

My work explores roots, rootlessness, and restlessness, generally in the context of my own upbringing as the child of a broken family. My newest work, From This Day Forward: Marriage and Miscarriage, is about being grounded, getting married and having a family. It shows all the good and bad that come with that. Such as a failed attempt to grow our family ending in miscarriage, twice. The work shows these experiences via visual projections and installations. Bio: Carrie Thompson is the recipient of multiple MN State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants for Photography along with a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Photographers. She is and has been Alec Soth’s studio manager since 2008.
