Coco Martin

Photographer

Coco Martin is an architect, self-taught photographer and video artist born and raised in Peru. He lives between Lima and New York and exhibits regularly since 1991. His artwork was recently added to the permanent collections to the FoLA Fototeca Latinoamericana in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and to the Museo de Arte de San Marcos in Lima (Peru). His art work has been featured recently at the Museo Arte Contemporáneo in the context of the 2014 Bienal de Foto in Lima, Perú. Martin’s work was also shown at the First Biennial of Photography of Puerto Rico (1998), Second Biennial of Lima, Peru (2000) and at the Biennial of Photography of Quito, Ecuador (2001) and at the Organization of American States Museum in Washington D.C. (2008). He has been recognized with the Exhibit Grant Award from the Council on the Arts for Staten Island (2005). Opus Incarnate Series - Scannographies, his most ambitious series to date, was shown in La Galeria and Lima Photo Art Fair in August 2012. One scannography was finalist in the 2014 LensCulture Portrait Awards in June 2014 and other was selected TOP TEN winner in the Latin American Fotografía 3 for the AI-AP 2014 travel exhibition. Recent reviews includes: aCurator by Julie Grahame. This body of work was selected a weekend portfolio by Elodie Mailliet for the disappeared french blog Le Journal de la Photographie in April 2013. It was also selected to participate at the International Summer School of Photography (ISSP) in Latvia in 2013.
