Emily Schiffer
Photographer
Emily Schiffer is a photographer and mixed media artist interested in the intersection between art, community engagement, and social change. Awards include: an Audience Engagement Grant from Open Society Foundation, Magnum Foundation Grants, the Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Portraiture, the Inge Morath Award, and a Fulbright Fellowship in Photography. Exhibitions include: The Upper Austrian Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art (Austria), the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (Germany), Espacio Fundacion Telefonica, Madrid (Spain), Photoville, NY, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Manila. Publications include: Aperture, Smithsonian, PDN, TIME, the Washington Post, The New York Times, and Mother Jones. Her work is in the permanent collections of The Farnsworth Museum, US, The Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts, Japan, Foto Baryo, Philippines, The Center for Fine Art Photography, US, and numerous private collections. Emily is a professor at the School of Visual Art, NY.
