Julia Kafizova. Ukrainian photographer and artist. Вorn in 1986 in Horishni Plavni, Ukraine. In search of herself and her place, she lived for several years in Poland and studied there at the Academy of Photography in Warsaw. Participated in group projects and exhibitions in Ukraine, Poland, Portugal. Over the past three years, she has been working with a self portrait, exploring the issue of the body and self-identity. In her works, she uses the body as a language for telling the world who we are here and now. The photo-portrait a completely unique opportunity to contemplate their physicality from the position of the observer. In such a situation, we have a different opportunity to meet and «meet» ourselves. In the case of a self-portrait, we simultaneously move away from our body (we look at it from a distance and from the side), and approach it (since we see it in a completely inaccessible for us perspective, we can see its smallest details and outlines). Such dialectics of «near and far» brings our understanding of our own body to a completely new contemplative and conceptual level.
