Laura Bivolaru's photography can be seen as developing from the delicate subtlety of intimacy into a carefully researched and thought-through process. Her work stems from her relationship with her family (a micro version of her relationship with the Romanian society that she left behind) and also for her status in the UK as the Other, which entails a relation of relative subordination to the British society. She navigates these coordinates through colour photography and writing.
