Lena Holzer
Photographer
Lena Holzer (*1995) is an Austrian designer and artist, currently based in The Hague, Netherlands. She studied Product Design and Visual Communication at the Free University Bolzano in Italy and worked as a photographer and photography lecturer for NABA Nuova Academia di Belle Arti in Milan, Italy. Her design work has been exhibited at the Milano Design Week and published in several magazines and blogs. After graduating from her BA she worked for the studio Nina Mair Architecture & Design before turning to photography. In 2021, Holzer graduated from the MA program Photography & Society at the KABK Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. Her photographic work has been featured in FOAM Magazine and she was among the winners of Photoworks UK Graduate Issue #13. In 2022 she will participate in the FOTODOK Lighthouse Program. Currently, she is a designer in a start-up team that develops a new eco-system for NFT art and she collaborates as an artist with Den Haag-based organization Creative Court on a series of participatory workshops addressing racist biases in Dutch society. Through a personal approach, Lena Holzer's artistic work explores the effects of social relations on the self and the influence of the individual within society through the medium of photography and writing. Her personal projects aim to find the extraordinary within the ordinary and question the criteria of what is considered valuable in society today.
