Macarena Costan

Photographer

Macarena Costan is an artist and photographer based in Bristol, England. She received a first-class BA (Hons) in Photographic Art from the University of South Wales in 2016, and an MA from the University of the West of England (UWE, Bristol) with distinction. Her current project Caliza has been recognise as a commended entry of the Genesis Postgraduate award 2019, selected as one of the winners of Flash Forward 2019 and part of LOOK photo Biennial/satellite program in Liverpool. Costan’s work has been exhibited internationally – at Pingyao International Photography Festival (China), Ffotogallery (Wales) and most recently at the Martin Parr Foundation (England) . She is interested in the creative possibilities and continuous expansion of a vocabulary of photographic vision. Her latest work, Caliza, explores notions of femininity, identity, and cultural traditions.
