Matthew Leifheit
Photographer
Matthew Leifheit Photographer and editor. Mr. Leifheit is founder and editor of MATTE Magazine, a journal of emerging photography. He was formerly photo editor of Vice Magazine and has also written on art and photography for Time and Aperture. He received a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2016 and earned an M.F.A. in photography from Yale University in May 2017. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in public collections including FOAM, the International Center of Photography, the Museum of Modern Art Library, and Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. His photographs have appeared in such publications as The New York Times, Time, Vice, and the Yale Daily News. In 2017 he was awarded the Richard Benson Prize, which includes a teaching fellowship in the Yale School of Art. Leifheit currently teaches photography at Yale University, Parsons School of Design, School of Visual Arts, and Pratt Institute.
