The work of Olga Permiakova (°1988, Kyiv, Ukraine) arises on the interface between reality and interpretation. With photography as a medium, Olga creates intense personal moments by approaching a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. In the current post-truth era, Olga tells her own story on the basis of recognizable visual references to the present and past. Her works directly respond to the surrounding environment and use everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. Olga Permiakova currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
