Before joining and graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, I worked for several years as a lawyer. My past professional experience influenced my practice which evolves around societal questions, with a strong focus on (post) colonial and (post) imperial structures. Although documentary oriented, I believe in a versatile approach of the photographic medium. Research and writing also occupy an important place in my practice.
