Photographer

Sophie Parafes is a documentary photographer based in Prague, Czechia. She was born in Novokuznetsk located in Siberia and grew up in the south of Russia. After graduating from high school, she took the opportunity to study abroad, first living in Brno, then Prague. In 2020, she became a student of Docdocdoc School of Modern Photography (based in Saint Petersburg), which gave her an opportunity to grow in documentary photography learning online. One year later, she returned to Russia to start her first documentary project about a founder of the theater troupe and the impersonator of Marilyn Monroe. Her work is focused on the exploring of extraordinary and visual storytelling of unique narratives. For her, photography is a tool to discover human individuality by constantly drawing attention to the personal stories of people.
